|Naeem Khan SS14|
|Alon Livne` SS14|
So on my second day of New York Fashion Week (their 4th day) I got to attend two shows!! How freackin exciting was that! Everything happened so fast, one day I'm chatting with so many wonderful people, then the next day I got invited on the spot to attend the show. The next thing I know I'm screaming on the inside but trying to reamin calm on the outside to these posh people, all while trying to photograph the beautiful textures and designs before me. Please excuse the photos from the first show "Naeem Khan" as I was trying to supress my excitement, pinch myself because I thought I was dreaming, and remember to take worthy photos to share with you all, all at the same time. I was definitely shaking from excitement the whole time and doing breathing excercises... so that explains why some of the photos are blurry. But it was a beautiful show with glitter, gowns, and colorful floor length dresses that were airy, dreamy, and romantic. The second show was for Alon Livne and it was absolutely divine!!! The designer showed such great variation and put a lot of effort into this collection. The collection was futuristic with geometric twists. Imagine a two piece suit whether a short suit, skirt suit, or the typical pant suit but someone laser sliced slits in all the right places following the curves on your body; whether it be along your side torso or your back and then replaced it with sheer fabric to relax the silhouette and transform a boring business attire into a sexy sports luxe outfit. Not to mention there were hints of vibrant colors like purple, and magent meshed with gold and black accents. Not to mention a couple of sports jackets, evening gowns, and bathing suits. To top it off, the models were accessorized simply with cornrows and visors.
I don't think I would've been able to get into fashion week without the help of www.ashleygaga.com/how-to-get-into-new-york-fashion-week/ . Her blog that she did a couple years back was very insightful on how to not only get into New York Fashion Week effortlessly without an invite or months of planning, writing, pleading, or registering, but also get invited back! So thank you Ashley for your wonderful tips. This trip was completley last minute, but I went off instinct with this one. You can say I'm like a hippie, I don't plan, I just go where ever the wind blows. I beleive that you are in control of your own destiny and success. The energy you put out is what you receive back, and when you do good, the universe will reward you. I got tired of just sulking around wishing to be somewhere more immaculate then DC. With finding out about fashion week at the last minute (smh), I knew I could either read about the fantastic reviews all over blogs, magazines, and Style.com of New York Fashion Week, or I could get my little booty up and just go. What's the worst that could happen? Not getting in? I didn't care if I didn't, but I knew just being surrounded with so many other fashion lovers would be enough to make me happy...and so I went.
Don't let life pass you by wishing you coulda shoulda would've... Life is what you make of it... So make the best of it!!
